7 Months! And having a blast!

Well, it’s the eve of my 7 month birthday and I thought it was time to check in with you about all the great new things I’ve been up to lately. Life around here has been pretty hectic, but I’ve been working hard to keep things fun. I enjoyed my first 4th of July holiday, even though I didn’t stay up for the fireworks. Mommy and Daddy were able to watch fireworks through the front windows, since the neighbors thought it would be fun to set them off in the middle of the street. Luckily, they didn’t wake me up!

Recently, Mommy and I have been playing a lot and working on some of my skills. I’ve finally mastered rolling from my front to my back! I’m still working on flipping from my back to front. I’ve done it at daycare and for Daddy, but Mommy hasn’t seen it yet…

Mommy and I have lots of fun looking at books.

We’ve started practicing baby sign language. So far, we’ve learned the signs for “food”, “more”, “water” and “kitty cat”. I still enjoy taking a bath every night and really like splashing in the tub. It’s fun for Daddy, even if he does get a bit wet.

Just hanging' with the girls.

I’ve been trying lots of new foods and really like eating. It’s not that I eat a lot at any one time, but I like to try new things. Here’s the list of all the things I like so far:

Veggies: sweet potato, potato, butternut squash, green beans (not my favorite), spinach (love it!), zucchini, peas (yum!), broccoli, beets (tasty!), garlic

Fruits: plums (super yum!), apricots, pears, apples, blueberries, cherries (tasty), nectarines, peaches, pineapple (weird texture), watermelon (yum!), banana, avocado

Other stuff: yogurt, rice cereal, oatmeal, quinoa, amaranth, water (more fun than you can even imagine!)

I'm just your average Bay Area foodie.

I’m quite the talker these days, and I often practice new sounds while I’m playing or while I’m in the bath tub. Here’s a clip of my first vowel-consonant combo: Bababababa (click the link and then click again).

What can I say? I'm a happy kid.

Even though I don’t have all my words and sounds yet to fully express the nuances of my thoughts, I’m still pretty expressive. Sometimes,  you just have to say what’s on your mind, you know? Here’s are some of my recent thoughts about the budget standoff between the California legislature and Governor Schwartzenegger: Let me tell you! (same drill. click twice)

I have a lot to say these days!

This next little clip made Mommy laugh so hard she cried. Daddy and I were having lots of fun: Jiggle Baby.

I was super excited when Mommy told me that we were traveling back east to visit everyone in a few weeks. I can't wait to play on the beach!

And my final BIG NEWS is that I am finally sleeping all the way through the night! Mommy and Daddy are sooooo proud of me (and thankful that they are getting more sleep)!

I'm pretty tired at the end of a fun-filled day.

Well, that’s it for this month’s update. Thanks for reading!

~ Ryan
